Pieces of me

one drop at a time, i see myself dissipate
not sure why as the puddle pools
i look in the reflection on the floor
my shadow stars back empty
no one understands the cloud of me
in the masses, around people, invisible
the cloud is masked by sunshine in their eyes

what became of me
what has happened
what do i not understand

the pieces fall slowly around me
I breath in salty water
the inside has spilled out
the puzzle sinks into places
tracing them backwards into the past
I embrace my salvation before the haze
music takes me over incompletely

how can i make this better
how does it make sense
how do i understand

it taunts me to press it and go
the self-destruct button
instead I live with sadness
in the pit of my stomach (and heart)
it sneeks up on me, takes me whole
not knowing where to turn
where do i go

why must it be this way
why can i not pull myself free
why am i consumed whole

scraped and climbed out of it before
the beast has grabbed my ankles
yanked down not without a fight
trying not to succumb i breath
not willing to give in
but the tears still taunt me
the feeling engulfs me
